Minimalist artwork with a black textured rectangle on the right and a plain light background on the left.

Charcoal, natural pigment, rice paper and marble powder on wood panel
30 × 40 × 3 cm

This original mixed-media painting by contemporary artist Ekaterina Galera is created through a slow process of layering, sanding and refining the surface.

A textured form extends from the edge into open space, exploring the balance between visual weight and lightness. Rice paper and marble powder add depth and subtle variations to the surface.

The finished surface is protected with several layers of acrylic medium to ensure stability and durability over time. Its compact format invites close viewing, while the deep wood panel gives the artwork an object-like presence.

Ready to hang, it can be displayed without a frame, either on its own or alongside other works from the series.
